kek.social sells two spaces, both beside the timeline rather than in it. An advertisement here is labelled as one, carries the name of whoever bought it, and never changes the order of anything anybody reads.
A campaign buys days. Not impressions, not clicks, and not a bid against anybody else: a flat price for a placement for as long as you book it.
Everybody except accounts on the paid tier, who have paid for it not to be there. That is the whole rule.
There is no targeting on this site. Not by what you follow, not by what you have read, not by where you are, not by anything. Every reader shown a space is shown the same advertisement, and which one that is depends on the clock.
That is a smaller offer than other places make, and it is deliberate. This site does not build a picture of anybody, so it has none to sell.
How It Is ChosenYou are told how many times your advertisement was drawn and how many times somebody clicked it. Neither is what you pay for.
Both are counted in memory and written down every few minutes, so a restart can lose a minute of them. That is why they are reported and not billed: a number somebody is charged against has to be one this site can stand behind exactly, and these are not.
Somebody reads it first. Every campaign is looked at before it goes live, and if it is refused you are told why, in writing, the same way every other decision on this server is explained to the account it is about.
